Yao Ming is a retired Chinese professional basketball player of NBA who played for Houston Rockets. He started to play on NBA for the Western Conference, NBA All-Star Game eight times. During his time he was the tallest active player, at 2.29 m or 7 ft 6 in. He was born in Shanghai, China and started to play basketball on his teenage years. After winning his final year in Shanghai, he was selected by the Houston Rockets as the first overall pick in NBA draft. The rockets won the first round series in 2009 postseason as he reach the NBA playoff four times.

Last July 2011, he announced his retirement on NBA because of his foot and ankle injury which forced him to miss 250 games in his last seasons. On the 8th season with Rockets, Yao ranks sixth among the franchise leaders in total points and total rebounds and in total seconds. But the remains of his footsteps in the ring of basketball field were already recorded in history and will remain a history. In his time, he was called “The King”. Today Yao Ming still participated in basketball in China and build a charity called “Yao Ming Foundation” that help to build schools.
